Butler WMD inquiry held in secret
BBC NEWS | Politics | Butler WMD inquiry held in secret:
"Lord Butler's inquiry into the intelligence that led to the war in Iraq will meet behind closed doors.
The Butler Inquiry said private hearings were necessary to avoid giving a partial or distorted public impression of the evidence. "
Well, how convenient. So it turns into a black box, we see what comes out, but not what goes on inside.
I refer you to a previous post, no Law Lord has ever carried out an investigation finding against the Governement.

Top-up fees money 'is not enough'
BBC NEWS | Education | Top-up fees money 'is not enough':
"Vice-chancellors in England and Northern Ireland have asked for £8.7bn in the government's spending review covering the three years to 2008. "
OK, 3 years ago universities asked for £9.9 bn in funding. This prompted the Gov to bring in top-up fees, to cover this funding request. Well, it's worked! This year they're only asking for £8.7 bn!!!!1!!
Fantastic work Tony. We love you!!

BBC NEWS | Technology | Microsoft 'critical' flaw warning:

Politicians' fury at Janet flash
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | TV and Radio | Politicians' fury at Janet flash:
"Politicians and TV regulators expressed outrage at singer Janet Jackson's Super Bowl breast flash at two hearings in Washington DC on Wednesday. "
But expressed no outrage whatsoever abotu the death of over 10,000 Iraqi civilians including 100 in the past 48 hours.
How on Earth can you condemn some stupid bint for getting her tits out while being silently complicit in the death of thousands for no reason other than personal drive?
I think we need to regain a little bit of perspective here. Of course, tin-foil-Tim mentioned that this might, just *might* have been another distraction tactic.
Hmmm, just imagine if he's right. How scary is that?

Meeting over smallest school:
"A second meeting has been organised to discuss the future of Kent's smallest school, which could close in 2005.
Over 50 people were unable to attend the first meeting about Ripple Primary School, Deal, as the venue was too small and could only hold 40 people."

Shock! US anti-spam law fails to make impact...
Anti-spam law makes no difference:
"US legislation designed to stem the tide of junk e-mails has had little impact on spam, say experts.
US e-mail filtering firm Postini said the Can-Spam Act had only made a slight dent in the amount of unwanted mail. "
Wow. Maybe not all spam comes from the US. Maybe, people in Russia sending this stuff out couldn't care less what a US court thinks about it. Maybe the spammers in the US feel pretty safe as there are just no bodies in place to actually enforce this law. Maybe it was a pathetic attempt to curry favour with office workers/semi-capable computer users.
As if this was ever, EVER going to work. Jeez.
Come to England! It;s the new Iraq!!!
BBC NEWS | Politics | Lawyers attack terror trial plans:
"David Blunkett wants non-jury trials which would take place in secret. "
